Portrait styles to keep or gift

Every example starts from two ordinary phone photos, like yours. The people and pets in the examples are fictional, created to show the styles.

Likeness isn't a detail. It's the portrait.

Many AI portraits get the colour right and the pet wrong. Galapaw is built so you recognise you both.

  1. We check your photos first

    If a photo is blurry, has sunglasses or the face is too small, we tell you before painting.

  2. We study their features

    We note your pet's breed, age, coat, colours and markings, and the features of your face, and the portrait is checked against them.

  3. We check the likeness

    Every portrait is compared with your photos. If your face doesn't match closely enough, we paint it a second time and show you the better one.

Questions

Which photos work best?

Of you: facing the camera, recent, well lit, face clearly visible and no sunglasses. One or two more photos from another day or angle make the likeness much better. Of your pet: their face, eyes, colours and markings clearly visible.

How many free previews do I get?

Up to 4 a day per account. If a photo won't work, we tell you before painting and that preview doesn't count.

Why do I need an account?

To keep your portraits and purchases, and so nobody else uses your free previews. Sign in with Google in one click; we only receive your name, email and profile picture.

What if it doesn't look like us?

You see the portrait before paying. If you're not convinced, try another photo, add one more of you or choose another style, without paying anything.

What if I don't like it after paying?

Ask for a full refund within 14 days at paddle.net or by writing to us. No questions asked.

Can I print it?

Yes. The file is 1856 × 2304 pixels in 4:5 format, enough for a sharp print up to about 8 × 10 in (20 × 25 cm).

Does it work with cats and several people?

Yes, with dogs, cats and other pets. The Family portrait style takes several people and pets in one scene; the others take one person and one pet.

How long do you keep my photos and portraits?

The photos you upload and the previews are deleted after 30 days. Portraits you buy stay in My portraits for 12 months so you can download them again. You can ask us to delete everything sooner.

Is paying safe?

Yes. Payment is handled by Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record: they process your card, apply your country's tax and email you the receipt. We never see your card details.

How long does it take?

Usually a minute. If your face doesn't match closely enough, we paint it a second time, which can take two or three minutes.
